18 Tips for Comic Book Artists by Moebius aka. Jean Giraud

Have you checked out Moebius yet? If not, google him. He was a French artist who made some of the best comic book art, and influenced some of the greatest creatives living today.

It’s funny because I had been shown his work years ago while flicking through some of my instructors’ art books. So when his images came by my art feed, I just had to investigate this person.

Although Moebius is no longer with us, he left some sage advice to comic book artists. In a talk to students in Mexico, he gave 18 tips to comic book artists.

Because I don’t speak Spanish, reading the original text is rather moot. But I found this blog by Xurxo G. Penalta. It’s a link to a summary page of the advice which has been translated and expanded upon on William Stout’s blog.

If you’re not interested in being a comic book artist, that’s fine. I still say go check out Moebius’s work anyhow. You won’t regret it!
